Meson Exchange Current models • Now available in NuWro neutrino generator (in TEM and Martini-Marteau MEC flavors) • QE-like interactions with more than one nucleon at the primary vertex • Possible explanation for differences in fitted parameters (MA) for measurements of quasielastic (QE) interactions between old (bubble chamber) and new (Miniboone, etc.) experiments • Their existence can contribute to systematic errors in neutrino energy reconstruction • Two separate problems: • What is their impact on neutrino energy reconstruction? • Can we detect MEC by means of ND280?
MEC & NuWro • Nuwro version: 11j • 200.000 events generated • T2K muon flux, carbon target • Simulated channels: QE, MEC, RES, DIS, COH • MEC: Martini-Marteau • The cascade (FSI) is turned on, so MEC do not have to necessarily have two protons in the final state!
all: how many MEC? CCQE True neutrino energy [MeV]
CCQE like: how many MEC? Simple CCQE like: at least one muon, no charged pions with momentum above 200 MeV/c
Relative contribution: true CCQE vs true CCMEC CCMEC/(CCQE+CCMEC) as a function of neutrino energy
How to detect MECs - #protons • I have selected events with a muon and no charged pions above 200MeV/c in momentum • Let's see how many protons MECs and others have! Mean sig: 1.80 Mean bg: 1.23
How to detect MECs – #protons with p>350MeV/c Mean sig: 1.27 Mean bg: 0.88
How to detect MECs – #protons with p>450MeV/c Mean sig: 0.93 Mean bg: 0.68
How to detect MECs – proton kinetic energy • The same cuts, but we plot sum of all protons' kinetic energy (in principle it is observable in the detector as deposited energy) Mean sig: 275 Mean bg: 207 Ek, [MeV]
