How can LEAs use Direct Education Funds? • Only for the purposes identified in the Federal programs that are the foundation of the funds. • Create new positions to temporarily save jobs.
State School Aid Fund • 2008-09 – $425 M Deficit (= $265 pp shortfall) • 2009-10 – $732 M Est. Deficit (= $457 pp shortfall) • 2010-11 – Anticipated Revenue Reductions in Excess of 4%
ARRA Conclusions • Cannot balance budget on these one-time funds. • ARRA monies represent a temporary reprieve while we reform our business.
