  2. Early Life • John was born in 1834 to Martha Sykes and Henry Venn. • He studied at Cambridge and graduated in 1857 • Later in 1859 John was ordained as a priest

  3. His work • He was skilled at building machines. • He published three texts on logic • introduced the frequency theory of probability in 1866

  5. Information • In 1862 he lectured about Moral Science at Cambridge University • He was awarded a mathematics scholarship

  6. Memorials • A stained glass window in the dining hall of Cambridge commemorates Venn's work. • He is commemorated at the University of Hull by the Venn Building.
