  2. The famous 19x19 board Go, or baduk, is an ancient board game for two players that is rich in strategy with simple rules. The player with the most territory is the winner. Players can place anywhere on the board, one at a time. Killing is another way of capturing territory. • Baduk Korean holidays Most every day in my family, we have some free time (holiday time) and we pull out the game board and play baduk. Capturing

  3. Korean birthdays Rice cakes, called duk, look nice on the outside but are even better because of the sugar and syrup inside with sesame seeds. Seaweed soup, called Miyuk gook is a traditional soup eaten on a birthday. It is thought to cleanse the blood vessels. Tofu is the standard Korean dish. It’s cholesterol free and very tasty, with a soy

  4. German Christmas • Germans believe in a Sankt Nikolaus. • Goose stuffed with apples and prunes is the main dish for dinner. • Brussels sprouts mellowed In beer! Red cabbage sauté

  5. German holiday games • Topfschlagen-one child in a blindfold tries to find a cooking pot hidden in a room. He uses a wooden spoon to determine if an object is the pot. He can ask for help 3 times. If he is close, the others will shout hot, and vice versa. Children playing Topfschlagen.

  6. Comparisons • Holiday traditions are very unusual! Obviously Germans have different rules from other ethnicities. They are accustomed to eating geese and have strong tastes in flavor. • My (Korean) tradition is more oriented on children and healthiness.
