This training is for people who are deaf/hard of hearing and use sign language for effective communication. Participants will gain a stronger understanding of how to advocate for themselves using laws such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), develop higher self esteem, understand the interpreter’s role and how to properly advocate for communication access services. Training is limited to 10 participants, first come – first served!!! Trainers: Susana Santillan, Deafness Resource Specialist, CSD of Texas(funded by DARS/Office for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (DHHS)and Tim Hanson, Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, DARS/Division for Rehabilitation Services This is 2-day training, 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. You must be able to attend both days, August 23-24, 2012. Training will take place at El Paso Community College Room B-240 - Lunch will be provided!
