Why and when was Mont-Saint-Michel built? Mont-Saint-Michel was built under Bishop Aubert of Avranges, who thought that an angel had told him to construct it on a 300-foot rock. It was constructed in 1879, at the request of Archangel Michael.
Where was Mont-Saint-Michel built? Mont-Saint-Michel was built on the north coast of France, near the border of Brittany and Normandy. The castle sits upon the gulf of Saint Malo.
Special features of Mont-Saint-Michel One of the most important special features is the spire on the very top of the castle. The statue is depicted as Saint Michael.
