Why Take Computer Tech? • Required for graduation • Can only take once in regular day school. • If you fail 1 or 2 terms, you may retake class online or at ATC • School counselor can give advice about options.
Course Objectives: • Enhance keyboarding skills. • Develop knowledge of computer basics and use of an operating system. • Apply document-processing skills. • Create spreadsheets and manipulate data.
Course Objectives: • Demonstrate an understanding of ethics related to computer technology. • Access on-line information resources. • Successfully use electronic mail. • Create an electronic presentation.
Course Objectives: • With the cooperation of a teacher in a different content area, students will create and implement an integrated project. • Language Arts • Science • Art • Mathematics
Required Individual Supplies: • Paper and a pencil every day. • One folder with pockets to keep assignments and handouts in.
Optional Student Supplies: • Flash Drive – 4g • (Thumb Drive/Jump Drive) • Ear Buds/Ear Phones
Behaviors that Affect Citizenship “Classroom Expectations” • Follow Directions • Correctly, the first time given • Keep to Yourself • Hands, feet, objects & unkind words • Give Respect • Other people, property • Raise Hand • To ask Questions; to make a comment; to leave your seat for any reason.

Other Items • Anyone caught cheating will receive a “0” on the assignment and 15 points reduced for citizenship. • Obey all rules outlined by Quest Academy Charter School Acceptable Use Policy for computer usage.
Citizenship based on: • In-class behavior • Cooperativeness • Tardiness • Classroom Expectations
Citizenship Grades • 100 begin points • Superior = 90 • Excellent = 85 • Satisfactory = 80 • Needs Improvement = 70 • Unsatisfactory = 0 – 69.9
Make-up Work Policy • Please refer to my website updated with each day’s class assignment. • It is each student’s responsibility to obtain the required homework assignment if they are absent.
Absent Students • When students are absent, they will have one week to complete any missed assignments • Special arrangements will be made for long-term excused absences. • For accommodations for those students who are unable to meet the due dates for any homework assignment, please see Mr. Beals.
1st Homework Assignment • 1st homework assignment is to have this form signed by you and your parent and to return by the next class. • Any questions?

Silent Chimes The silent chimes happens automatically when: • A visitor enters our class • I am on the telephone
Computer Use Agreement • My parent or guardian has reviewed the Quest Academy Acceptable Use Agreement with me. • I understand the importance of being polite, respectful, honest, and the need to obey the rules for the use of the computer and the Internet. • I also know I should not give out personal information about my family or myself over the Internet. • I understand that the computer, the Internet and other electronic information resources are to be used for educational purposes only.

Procedure: Entering Class • Be in your assigned seat with all materials - working on the warm-up when the tardy bell rings. • Model • Individual • Table • Class Practice
Procedure: Leaving Class • Your area must be clean and neat with your notebooks put away when Mr. Beals Excuses you. • Model • Individuals • Tables • Whole Class Practice
Procedure: Pencil • I will be happy to provide a sharp pencil for one that is dull or broken. • I use a silent signal to trade pencils with you. (Demonstrate signal) • If you choose to arrive in class without a pencil, that would constitute a need for taking away 5 citizenship points for not being prepared. • (see ‘follow directions’ class expectation)
Procedure: Tissue • I will try to keep a supply of tissues available at strategic places in the classroom. • I also use a silent signal to ask for a tissue in class. (Demonstrate signal)
Procedure: Bathroom • Bathroom breaks from class need to be kept to a minimum. • Each class period is less than 1 hour long, with 5 full minutes in between each class. • As a Jr. High student, you need to learn to monitor your body’s needs. • If you have special medical needs, your parents must let our school know about them. • Each term, students are given a full sheet of hall pass tickets to be used for these ‘emergencies’. • Each unused ticket will be worth 2 extra credit points which will improve your class grade.
