Department’s Mission Statement • Mission Statement: Is a formal, short, written statement of the purpose of the department. The mission statement should guide the actions of the department, spell out its overall goal, provide a sense of direction, and guide decision-making. It provides the framework or context within which the department’s strategies are formulated in line with institution’s mission and vision.
Program Educational Objectives • Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) are statements that describe the expected accomplishments of graduates during the first few years following graduation.
Student Outcomes • Student Outcomes (SOs) are statements that describe what students are expected to know and able to do by the time of graduation. SOs should be consistent with PEOs. • For associate degree programs, the student outcomes should include, but not limited to, the following learned capabilities:
a. an ability to apply the knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of the discipline to narrowly defined engineering technology activities. • b. an ability to apply a knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to engineering technology problems that require limited application of principles but extensive practical knowledge. • c. an ability to conduct standard tests and measurements, and to conduct, analyze, and interpret experiments. • d. an ability to function effectively as a member of a technical team. • e. an ability to identify, analyze, and solve narrowly defined engineering technology problems.
f. an ability to apply written, oral, and graphical communication in both technical and non technical environments; and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature. • g. an understanding of the need for and an ability to engage in self-directed continuing professional development. • h. an understanding of and a commitment to address professional and ethical responsibilities, including a respect for diversity. • i. a commitment to quality, timelines, and continuous improvement.
Notes: • PEOs should be consistent with the mission of the Institution/department. • PEOs should be consistent with the needs of Program’s various constituencies. • PEOs should be between 3 to 5 statements. • Objectives and outcomes should be measurable.

Program Educational Objectives The Electrical Engineering Science program provides broad foundations to achieve the following objectives: • Graduates will have a successful career in Electrical Engineering. • Graduates will advance to positions of leadership in their profession. • Graduates may pursue their professional development through self learning and advanced degrees.

Electrical & Electronics Engineering Technology Department Mission Statement To prepare qualified high school graduates to become Engineering Technicians and Engineering Technologists, ready for immediate employment. • Electrical Power Technology Program Mission StatementTo provide students at associate degree level program, with technical knowledge and practical skills that will enable them to work as Electrical Power Engineering Technicians in industry and other organizations related to electrical power technology. • Instrumentation Technology Program Mission StatementTo provide students at associate degree level with the technical skills and knowledge that will enable them to work as technicians in all areas of Instrumentation Technology.
Electrical Power Technology (Associate Degree) Aims of the Program The purpose of this program is to prepare students to work as electrical technicians in a wide area like power plant operation and maintenance, electrical substation maintenance, transmission and distribution line maintenance, troubleshooting of electrical systems, design and maintenance of lighting systems etc. The student could also easily work as a laboratory technician or a sales representative. Program Educational Objectives The following are the approved program educational objectives of Electrical Power Technology program: • Provide Electrical Power technology students with an environment that is conducive to learning the skills, needed to be immediately employable within broad based Electrical field. • Prepare and implement a curriculum that remains current to the need of Saudi Arabian industry. • Provide students with a solid foundation of knowledge of mathematics, basic sciences and Electrical engineering technology that prepares them for life long learning and to adopt for ever changing global technological environment. • Produce Graduates with necessary background and technical skills to work professionally in one or more of the following areas, Electrical power system technician, Installation and maintenance technician, Electrical trouble shooting technician, Electrical machine technician, Electrical control and protection technician, Service technician and Electrical lab technician. • Provide knowledge and skills that will enhance the education of students, enrich their quality of life, and contribute to the solution of problems in Saudi Arabia’s industry. • Work effectively as an individual and as a member or leader of a multidisciplinary team. • Develop social skills such as discipline, punctuality tolerance, co-operation, trustworthiness all necessary for world of work. • Develop the analytical skill, written and oral communication skills, critical thinking and problem solving abilities to the expected level of industry. • Instill in our students an understanding of their professional and ethical responsibilities with a knowledge and understanding of contemporary issues. • Provide our students with the knowledge, skills and attitude that encourage them to pursue higher education.
Program Outcomes • On completion of the Instrumentation Technology Program, the students will: • have a working knowledge of the principles and practices of electrical power field regarding electrical circuits, electrical machines and their control, generation, transmission, and distribution of electrical power and testing and maintenance of electrical machines and systems using modern tools. • be able to apply knowledge of mathematics, applied sciences and electrical and electronics engineering to current and emerging applications in the field of electrical power technology. • have technical problem solving skills, including the ability to identify problems, conduct experiments in laboratory settings, analyze their results and use these results in the solution of problems in the electrical power field. • be able to identify, formulate, analyze and present creative solution to technical problems in all areas of electrical power technology field using all of the required and available resources. • be able to work effectively as a member or leader of multi-disciplinary team, and communicate technical information effectively in writing as well as in oral presentation. • be engaged in continuously learning the new practices, principles techniques and skills of the electrical power industry. • be able to continually learn and appreciate issues which have local, national or global effect and which can cause an impact on their lives, their chosen industries and other constituents. • be committed to continuous improvement, quality, safety and timely action within the electrical power industry in particular and in their lives in general. • be able to recognize and accept their professional, ethical and social responsibilities.
Instrumentation Technology (Associate Degree) Aims of the Program The purpose of this program is to prepare students to work as control loop technicians, instrument maintenance technicians, laboratory technicians, or to assist the engineer in the design, development, and testing of measurement and control systems. Program Educational Objectives The following are the approved objectives of Instrumentation Technology Program: • To educate young Saudi students in an environment that enhances their intellectual capabilities as well as improves their attitudes towards hands on work practices. • To teach (using an appropriate curriculum) in a manner that prepares our students to be lifelong learners and also to be successful in industry. • To provide knowledge and skills that will enhance the education of students, enrich their quality of life, and contribute to the solutions of problems in Saudi Arabia’s industry. • To prepare students to qualify and be capable of functioning as professionals in instrumentation technology fields such as instrument maintenance technicians, system control technicians, laboratory technicians, operation technicians, and assist the instrument engineer in the design, development and testing of measurement and control systems. • To provide young Saudis with the basic skills necessary for effective communication and to develop their ability to function as members of teams who can respect diversity of opinions and acquire an appropriate vision of their profession. • To provide students with a solid foundation in Instrumentation Technology that prepares them for lifelong careers and professional growth. • To provide students with the abilityto perform instrument maintenance based on manufacturer’s manual, technical analysis and hands-on training in troubleshooting instrumentation loops. • To equip students with the necessary theoretical Instrumentation technology background that can enable them to analyze and adapt to changing requirements in the job market, and/or to further their education. • To instill within our students using counseling and academic advising, the technical, communication, and character skills that will prepare them for supervisory roles in industry. • To provide our students with the knowledge, skills and attitude that enables them to make responsible choices in their future careers.
Program Outcomes • On completion of the Instrumentation Technology Program, the students will: • have knowledge of the principles and practices of instrumentation Technology regarding the operation, calibration, trouble shooting & maintenance of Industrial Process Control Systems and various process control components using modern tools • be able to apply principles of mathematics, applied science, current knowledge in electronics, computers and elements of control system practices to the emerging areas of Instrumentation Technology. • have technical knowledge in the broad field of Instrumentation technology to identify industrial problems, conduct experiments and analyze the obtained results to come up with promising solutions for Industrial process control problems. • be able to understand industrial process control and measurement problems, analyze using modern computational tools such as scientific calculators, computers & software packages and solve them. • be able to work effectively as a member of multi-disciplinary team in industry/institution with adequate communication skill to present technical information orally as well as in writing. • have the ability to engage continuously learning the new practices, principles, techniques and skills in the field of Instrumentation Technology • have broad education and knowledge of contemporary issues in local and global scenario to understand professional, ethical and social responsibilities. • be able to respect diversity and have knowledge of contemporary professional, societal and global issues which can create positive impact on their lives and the institutions where they work • be able to demonstrate commitment to safety measures, quality work, punctuality, and continuous improvement in Instrumentation Technology area in particular and in their lives in general.

Process Operation and Chemical Analysis Technology Program Program Educational Objectives The approved educational objectives for the Process Operation and Chemical Analysis Technology Program are: • To prepare students who are capable of demonstrating excellence in technical knowledge and hands-on-skills in the field of process operation and chemical analysis technology. • To prepare students with a solid foundation in mathematics, sciences and technology needed in their professional careers. • To prepare students with the sufficient hands-on-skills in the use of laboratory equipments and computer tools that enables them to obtain, analyze and report scientific data. • To enhance the students ability to effectively communicate technical and professional information in written, oral, and graphical forms. • To foster within our students a commitment to protect the public interest, health, safety and environment and to maintain the highest ethical and professional standards towards employers and community at large. • To prepare students to be interested, motivated, and capable of pursuing continued life-long learning. • To instill within our students using counseling and academic advising the technical and communication skills that will prepare them for supervisory roles in industry. • To prepare students to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams in a variety of working environments.
