  2. Each group researches one of the following: • Landsat MSS • Landsat TM • Landsat 8 OLI • MODIS • AVHRR • WorldView-2 • SPOT-6

Answer each of the following questions for your satellite(s) and record your answers in in a word file: • What is the spatial resolution(s)? • What is the spectral resolution? • What bands are included? • What is the temporal resolution? • What is the radiometric resolution? • What is the cost per km2? • When was it launched? • If not still collecting data, when did it stop? • Where do you get the data?

  4. Also… • Find one application of data from your satellite (but you don’t have to e-mail it to the class). • Be prepared to describe the application.

  5. When you have answered all questions, use WyoWeb to e-mail your answers to the entire class.

  6. After you receive the info from your classmates, with your group, decide which satellite(s) you would use for each of the following: You have been asked to accomplish two tasks: • Map the land cover of the southern margin of the Saharan desert in Africa as a baseline for future studies of land cover change resulting from possible climate change. • Map flood damage in Boulder, Colorado from the recent unprecedented rainstorm. Write down your answers and a brief justification, along with any questions you need to ask to make a better choice.
