Do Not Take • Why? • It can damage the environment • It is illegal • Allow the next person to experience it • “these gifts should be left for those to discover once more” (LNT). • Alternatives? • Take a picture • Draw a picture • You can take a small amount of an abundant source • eg. Blueberries

  4. Do Not Move This is a cairn a natural trail marker. • Why? • It can damage the environment • It can confuse other hikers • “the seemingly harmless fact of moving rocks can be in fact fatal” (LNT). • Do not build new landmarks • If you must move something be sure to put it back into its original place.

  5. Do Not Leave • Why? • Introducing new things to a stable ecosystem can be catastrophic to it (Invasive Species) • eg. cane toads (Australia) • “invasive species of plants and animals can cause large scale irreversible changes to ecosystems” (LNT). • Do not litter • Can be harmful to animals • It is illegal
