Introduction • Do you hate going to places when young teens don’t act right? • Why? • What can be done about it? • I have some ideas to share with you.
Research CIRV Chicago and Cincinnati have programs that are working for gang reductions. • CIRV began in April, with funding from from U.S Department of Justice after the city recorded a record 89 killings in 2007. • With strong anti-violence messages and encourage to spread the word to teen in the streets. • After that they are contract with “street advocates” who counsel them on turning a new leaf. Scrap Iron shifted gang intervention from police work elaborate behavioral approach that has two prongs: using law enforcement to aggressively get the message of zero tolerance.

I’m very big on the business of intervention prevention.” • “Despite a rash of recent police –involved shooting some officers still want to work with young children that is and criminal behavior.” • He want to start a “Boot Camp” at Over-The-Rhine school campus for at-risk youth, but that idea is on hold. • He want Professional football players to help out, he feel that it’s going to help young teens because they look up to celebrity. • He’s Planning a city-wide forum possibly in October to help determine the best approach to reducing the crime.
Ceasefire Program • When I did my research on this program I saw a lot of things about their program that are very effective. • Robert Wood Johnson which has supported Ceasefire since 1999 with $10 million in funding. • This program does background checks and drug tests • The members must have have a job and stay with a job. • The program has been found to directly reduce shootings by 16% to 34% in targeted in neighborhoods.
Make a Change • This program is trying to focus on young people who can’t stay out of trouble like repeated offenders. That constantly stays in trouble. I will be with the juvenile court system to identify who they are. • They have to have weekly group therapy. • It want be like a parole condition its like to see if they like they program or is they learning anything from the program. • I going to monitor them coming with a micro chip. Am going to give each person 10,000 dollars for a business. In order get that $ they have to attend meetings and go to therapy classes.
Continue Make a Change • I will have one police officer, 2 ex criminals who had got there life together, and 2 people who been victims of crime to speak with them. • I want to have it at 20/20 rent it out for a $100 a week to have these group meetings. • The cost of this whole program would be 65,000 dollars for a year work. • I will be getting the money from grants and donation.
