  5. Allies Win the War Russia Withdraws - Civil unrest causes Russian Czar to step down(too many lives lost at war) • Communists take control of government – army refuses to keep fighting • Signs treaty with Germany – March, 1918 – pulls out of war & gives up lots of land to Germany

  6. Central Powers Collapse • Germany moves all forces to Western front • France reinforced with American Troops – Germany forced to retreat • Allies win the war; sign armistice – end of fighting – November 11, 1918 at 11:11am(now Veterans day)
