  2. Mission • The mission of this course is to provide students with the necessary skills in order to respond to an emergency situation. Such emergencies may include choking, cardiac arrests, etc. • Also provides students will skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, and broken bones.

  3. Objective • By the end of this course, students will be able to demonstrate the skills used in CPR during emergency situations. • Students will also be formally assessed by taking a written test.

  4. Equipment/Software • Manikin • Ambu CPR Software • AED • Mouth barrier • Ace bandage

  5. Manikin • A life size model of the human body. • Provides a hands on experience for students to practice CPR skills. • $454.95 from eBay (5 pack of Adult/child) • Students will demonstrate CPR skills with their manikins and will be formally assessed through demonstration.

  6. Ambu CPR Software • Software used with Microsoft Windows that shows records of CPR training. • Monitors performance and improves CPR training. • $0 from ambu.com • Students will track their CPR training progress and Identify areas that need improvement.

  7. AED • An automated external defibrillator diagnosis irregular heartbeat in the body. • Allows students to practice AED skills including where to place the pads and how to deliver shocks. • $1,267.99 from amazon.com • Students will use AED with manikins demonstrating proper placement of pads and safely delivering shocks.

  8. Mouth Barrier • A barrier used in giving breaths during CPR. • Provides a healthy way to deliver CPR providing protection for both individuals. • $23.45 from readykor.com • Students will practice proper Placement and demonstrate Giving breaths with mouth barrier.

  9. Ace bandage • An elastic wrap used to apply pressure to an injury. • Used to treat strains, sprains, fractures, etc and stabilized and support affected areas. • $3.90 from Amazon.com • Students will learn how to wrap shoulder, arm, and leg splints. Students will be evaluated based on their demonstration to wrap a splint.
