Target Customer Considerations Assure that these considerations are met The target customer should: • Own SQL Server 2008 R2 Licenses • Have Software Assurance points available to use for Deployment Planning Services • Have Oracle DBs/Applications they are considering moving to the SQL Platform • See the value in moving to SQL Server as a cost effective platform for their database server requirements • Enable the SSDPS partner to access relevant data for project success
Customer Actions Required Customers must complete surveys and participate at key milestones • Completed Pre-Engagement Questionnaire • MAPS as appropriate if more detail needed from customer prior to DB survey completion • Participate in kickoff and closure meetings • Participate/ provide approval in week 2 DB selection • Participate in Customer Satisfaction Surveys
Light and Detailed Assessments Definitions to clarify the differences Light Assessment Detailed Assessment • Less rigorous assessment process including • Review of SSMA/survey reports to stack rank DBs and validate labor estimates provided by tool. • Rank by least effort to most effort for evaluation purposes • Rationalize tool estimates • Can consume 3-15 hours • Conduct a more rigorous assessment process to resolve migration issues including • Application conversion • Integration • Data migration • Tuning • Testing • Adherence to any customer IT management policy for the SQL Server Solution • Time intensive, should really only be performed on one DB to maintain 15 day goal
