  1. kV™ Meter - Modem Option Board Functions, Features, Options & Operating Tips

  2. Important New Features • Call in on outage • Master/Slave • Communicate with all meters with a single phone call • On-line “real time” view of critical service data • Phasor diagram of phase voltages & currents • Instantaneous demand and PF information • Diagnostic counters • Caution and Error status • Call origination window • Improved call retry algorithm

  3. Modem Overview • 2400 baud internal modem option board • Also works at 1200 or 300 baud • Call Answer and Origination • Shared phone line friendly (handset or other equip.) • Line sharing - up to 5 meters on one phone line • LED’s for “off-hook” and “carrier detect” • Test Call capability • Designed for open systems & third party integration • Designed to meet ANSI C12.18, C12.21, and C12.19 • Supports UTS “I” command

  4. Call Origination • Schedule • Weekly or Specific Date & Time • Event • Cautions, Errors, Diagnostics • Power Restoration • Power Outage (optional) • Up to 3 phone numbers • Primary & Alternate defined for each call type • Retry Algorithm (except for outage calls) • Up to 5 retry “groups”, up to 5 calls per group.

  5. Call in on Power Outage • Optional capability to call during a power outage • Requires additional battery pack and “C” soft switch • Programmable features to minimize battery use • Length of power outage before placing call • Minimum time between power outage calls • Separate Retry Algorithm • Will try two times only - conserves battery

  6. Shared Phone Line Friendly • Answer window • Programmable number of rings • Call origination window • Answer lock-out feature • Prevents answering next call after no carrier signal • Other phone detect circuitry • Won’t initiate call when line is busy • Hangs up if handset is picked up during a call

  7. Master / Slave Operation • Up to 5 meters on a single phone line • 1 Master, 4 Slave units • May communicate with all units in one phone call • Must program answer parameters identically • Answer window • Number of rings • Baud rate • Must disable “other phone detect” • Call origination must not overlap

  8. Option Board Compatibility • If modem board present, must use I/O-2 and LP-2 • I/O-2 with cable: 9938287001 • I/O-2 without cable: 9938287002 • LP-2 without battery: 9936887001 • LP-2 with battery: 9936887002 • Revenue Guard board not affected by modem • Catalog number: 9938280001

  9. Documentation
