Rationale • National and local school research indicates: • First time freshman are the most at risk student population. • If they are not successful academically and socially their first year of high school their motivation and self-efficacy can be impacted. Bottom Line A 9th Grade Academy will focus on addressing the unique needs of 9th grade students, their parents and the school personell who work with them.
Our goal is to meet their needs through3 Areas of Focus • 1) Effective communication among school officials, parents and students. • 2) Creating a sense of belonging and making a concerted effort involve 9th grade students in clubs, sports or activities at GHS • 3) Timely Intervention specified to help students who are struggling behaviorally and academically before irreconcilable problems occur.
