Conclusions • Children and youth actually want to make a difference • They find it difficult to influence • We have to develop a frame where we can develop children’s and youth empowerment • - on personal level, community level and society level towards citizenship
The IVAC-approach • Investigation • What it’s all about? • Why is it important? • How was it in former times and how has it changed • Visions • What alternatives can we imagine? • How are conditions in other countries and other cultures? • What do we prefer and why? • Action and change • What changes will bring us closer to our visions? • What action possibilities exist in order to reach the changes? • Which actions will you carry out?
Perspectives for the teaching • Children want to be active • Investigate, ask questions, find answers, express themselves • Anther teacher role • Help the children to investigate etc. • Try to act • Use the schools as laboratory for actions, make suggestions for the council, try to act or start discussions in local community, make campaigns, being advisers etc.
