Introduction • Do we all pray regularly? • How many times do you pray every day? • Does God answers your prayer? • Does God always hear our prayer?
A Prophet • A prophet is a man of God that brings messages from God to the people • A prophet can also inform people of things that will happen in the future that are revealed to him/her by God
STORY • Elijah was a courageous and faithful prophet • He feared no man and he would do what ever God tells him to do
God was not pleased with King Ahab and his wife queen Jezebel • Queen Jezebel worshiped idols and made king Ahab and all the people worship the idols and forget about God • She forced the people to worship Baal and she killed any one who would not kneel to Baal.
Elijah the prophet refused to worship Baal because he loved God and was faithful to Him • He would not worship anyone else but God • So God sent him to king Ahab to tell him “As the Lord the God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there will be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word”
King Ahab did not believe Elijah • But God listened to Elijah’s prayer and there was no rain for many years. • The sun rose every day and it was hot but there was no rain • The land dried and there was no food for the people or the animals. • It was a great and severe famine
King Ahab was furious that Elijah prayed for no rain and God listened to him • King Ahab, Queen Jezebel and all the people were praying to their idols to bring them rain but their idols did nothing • The people started to suspect the power of the idols. They realized that they do not listen or do anything to them. They are just stones.
King Ahab and Queen Jezebel became very angry and wanted to find Elijah by all means • But God has directed Elijah to go and hide from the King and the Queen • The king and the queen could not find him because God has protected him
Conclusion • If we have strong faith in God, as Elijah did, we should fear no man • God listens to the prayers of the faithful as He listened to Elijah’s prayer for no rain • God protects His children as he protected Elijah from king Ahab and the evil queen Jezebel
Memory Verse “ As the Lord the God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there will be neither dew nor rain these years except by my word” (1Kings 17:1)
