Why are the project and its goal(s) important? • It is okay to mimic a successful concept but the content should be unique • Learning is a good justification, the first time. • The goals set the stage for measuring current progress and future developments • The project has a finite lifetime, while a program has an ongoing nature. It helps to know which is being considered.
Know what resources are needed and are available • Time, People, Money, Knowledge, Sources, Equipment, Supplies • These are in decreasing importance • Do assume that some need be in-house • Do consider the benefits of outsourcing • Knowledge should become an in-house resource. • It is possible to outsource an entire project and learn nothing

How will you measure success? • Don’t be afraid to be unsuccessful on your first attempt. • There are three measures of success • Project Success – on time, on budget • Learning Success – Experience becomes Knowing • Audience Success – the intended audience likes it and wants more • Success can be measured both qualitatively and quantitatively but ultimately the goal is to measure if perceptions match or exceed the initial expectations.
Which procedures and practices will you follow? • Re-Invention is often more easily funded than replication • Work with accepted, broad standards • Every project should be in line with established professional guidelines for use in the classroom or instruction • Borrow from the existing so that not everything must be done from scratch • Look for partnerships when ever possible
