Bachelors Degree in Management Presentation BY: Mr. ISH Gera
What is Management ? • In the simplest of terms, management is all about ‘getting things done’. Management in all business and organizational activities is the act of getting people together to accomplish desired goals and objectives using available resources efficiently and effectively. • Management provides one of the most lucrative career avenues in the corporate world. The demand may run out for accountants, engineers, and other professions but will never run out for managers. • A career path that presents newer challenges each day and breaks the monotony of a daily 9-5 job.
Why should I choose management ?? Lets make a small comparison between the courses for commerce and management of the Delhi University. Moreover, BMS has presented a much better placement record in terms of the percentage of students getting placed in top companies
What’s on the menu ?? DU Multiple Universities IIM-Indore Jamia
How to get through ?? • Basically most of the colleges that teach management and business follow more or less a similar pattern of admission.
Bachelor of Management Studies Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi
Bachelor Of Management Studies - University Of Delhi • The most popular course in the field. • Affiliated to the Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi • Offered in 6 colleges. • Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies. • College of Vocational Studies • DeenDayalUpadhyay College. • KeshavMahavidyalaya. • BhimRaoAmbedkar College • Maharaja Agarsen College. • Has been the amalgamation of the 3 immensely popular courses of DU- BBS, BFIA and BBE. • BBS and BFIA boasted of a nearly 100 % placement • track record
Bachelor Of Management Studies - University Of Delhi • 4-year course to be taught over 8 semesters. • Covers traditional disciplines of management-marketing, finance and HR along with the newer aspects of International Business Management, Management of Services, Business analytics etc. • The new course has been completely enriched with industry-specific content and claims to be the most job oriented course in the Indian as well as global context. • Till last year, BBS/BFIA was generating an average placement package of 5-6 lakhs with the highest package going close to 11-12 Lakhs.
BMS (as reported in the Navbharat Times, Dated 16 May 2013) No need for an MBA Research to become easier in countries like USA Salary packages expected to double (earlier it used to be around 10-12 lakhs, now make the calculation yourself)
The BMS edge • The entire purpose of creating a course like BMS was to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical knowledge. • A student does not have to rely on a post graduate degree to get a job. Colleges like Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies managed to place almost the entire batch(excluding those who on their own accord sat out of placements to join their family business or to start one of their own). • The average placement is expected to be around 10-12 lakh p.a with the maximum around 20 lakhs.
The BMS edge • The course has an unsaid motto of learning by doing. In colleges like SSCBS the students are encouraged to learn all that they can by themselves through organising events, taking part in presentations, industry interactions, etc. In fact quite a lot of the official stuff is handled by the student societies like public relations, placements, corporate exposure etc. • It is a fact that the course (erstwhile BBS/BFIA) has proven to be a personality enhancer. Presentations, live projects, demonstrations have been the essential part of the curriculum.
Seat availability and entrance pattern-BMS • All in all about 840 seats have been earmarked for the course with Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, the dream college for BMS taking a lion’s share of 300 seats. • As regards the entrance pattern, the official notification from the Faculty of Management Studies was as follows : • “The written test is designed to evaluate the aptitude of the candidates to pursue a Bachelor of Management Studies. If you tried to calculate this alebraically.(Taking price as x and then making calculations, you would end up consuming more time than you are allotted) • There is an extremely simple method to solve this: • There is a shortcut formula to combine percentages, it is: • a + b + ab/100 • Using this, • 20 + (-20) + (20)(-20)/100 = 0 + (-)4 = -4 • Thus you could solve this question in less than 15 seconds.
