Compound Sentence • Two independent clauses linked by a comma or a coordinating conjunction • Example: • I saw the movie, but I didn’t like it. • Sally went shopping, then she came home.
Complex Sentence • One independent clause and one or more dependent clauses. • Example: • After we went to the game, we had dinner. • While I was walking down the street, I saw a dog.
Compound/Complex Sentence • Two independent clauses with a dependent clause • After we went to the game, we went to dinner, but the food was awful.
