It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. • It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no records of wrongs • Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth • It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves • Love never fails.

  3. What is Love? Brain VS. Heart Brain • Each brain system is associated with a different set of networks. • Lust – triggered by testosterone • Romantic Attraction – elevated by dopamine and norepinephrine • Attachment – associated with oxytocin and vasopressin Heart • The connection to the heart is metaphorical since the heart is the life and death organ. • Your heart “feels” the most. The heart is the most vocal organ. When you’re sad the heart slows and purses. When you’re happy, it comes on strongly. When you’re excited, the heart beats more rapidly.

Men were in their 20s or 30s while women were expected to be in their teens. • The average age of marriage in the late 13th-16th centuries was 25 years old. • In England and Wales, a marriage act required a formal ceremony officiated by an Angelican priest.

  8. China • Families sometimes intermarried themselves from one generation to the other. • Arranged marriages were the most common up until 1950 when the law changed to require monogomy and equality for men and women.

  9. Judaism • Marriage is viewed as a contractual bond commanded by God. • A Jewish marriage is also expected to fulfill the commandment to have children. • It is understood that a husband and wife are merging together into one single soul.

  10. Latter Day Saints • LDS believe that marriage is between a man and a woman and is ordained of God. The central idea is to the Creator’s plan for eternal life. • They believe marriage can last beyond death and into eternity.
