Shoulder Pain Shoulder tendonitis is something that affects a lot of sports people, and that is becoming increasingly commonplace in sedentary people too because of the kind of desk-based jobs that so many of us do. Shoulder pain relief does not have to elude us, as great care is readily available. Shoulder tendonitis is a condition characterized by inflammation of the tendons around the shoulder and rotator cuff. It tends to occur because of repeated micro traumas to the rotator cuff tendons, rather than because of a specific traumatic event.
Causes of Shoulder Pain Repetitive motion– Over use, such as tennis or golf– Trauma such as a car accident (in an auto accident hitting your shoulder against the door)– Degenerative joint diseases such as arthritis– Ice skating injuries– Carpal tunnel syndrome– Diabetes, leading to adhesive capsulitis, sometimes referred to as a “frozen shoulder”– Sports injuries– Overhead work, such as a mechanic, which may include pain that is both acute and chronic– Pinched nerve in arm– Elbow issues– Pinched nerves
Symptoms of Shoulder Tendonitis – Clicking of the shoulder when the arm is raised to around shoulder help– A ‘painful arc’ when the arm is raised– Shoulder pain or clicking when the arm is moved behind your back or your head– Upper arm pain– Pain in the shoulder even when the arm is at rest– Neck pain– Rotator cuff tear
