The vision for CQI • CQI YOUR WAY! • “Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have access to and receive the highest attainable standard of primary health care wherever and whenever they seek care” – National CQI Framework. • A strong, sustainable health system that delivers a coordinated, responsive, culturally safe primary health care for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
How is that achieved? • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples must play an integral part in decision-making processes. • Ongoing commitment by all key stakeholders to support best practice and evidence based CQI in primary health care. • Governments work together to ensure CQI is embedded at all levels across the national health system. • Acknowledging and understanding that there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach for services and communities.
National policy approach to CQI What is the Department doing? • A CQI approach is embedded in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of national Indigenous health policy and programs. • Working with the sector to identify priorities and opportunities for improvements, understand the barriers, adapting to challenges and exploring ways to provide better support.
