The Goals of Social Studies To acquire knowledge from the social sciences, history and humanities • National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) To develop skills to think and to process information To develop appropriate democratic values and beliefs To have opportunities for citizenship/social participation Another words…develop the ability to make informed and reasoned decisions for the public good as citizens of a culturally diverse, democratic society in an interdependent world.
