Intro • Hypertension is a chronic medical heart condition that is most likely to be heredity • High Blood pressure is cause by high stress level or a over amount of digested salt overtime
Signs and Symptoms • In the early stages, it has no symptoms, giving it the nickname, “the silent killer,” but it may cause shortness of breath when exercising. • If left untreated, it can lead to other cardiovascular diseases and cause serious damage to major organs • People who are at a higher risk:· People who are overweight· People who usually eat foods with a high salt content· People with Native American, Hispanic, or African American ethnicity· People with a family history of hypertension· Age and gender: Men under 45, men and women between 45 and 54, and Women older than 54· Stressed people
Statistics • On average, 1 in every 3 Americans (33.3%) have Hypertension, most of which are 35 or older. • About 1in 4American adults (28%) have Prehypertension—blood pressure measurements that are higher than normal though not yet in the high blood pressure range • Hypertension effects men more then women
Effects of Hypertension • Hypertension can create a major risk factor for heart disease, stroke, congestive heart failure, Heart strain, kidney disease and other types of CVD’s if allowed to continue In 2010, Hypertension cost the United States $76.6 billion in health care services, medications, and missed days of work.
Treatment • Exercise enough to maintain a healthy body weight. • Eat healthy and keep a healthy nutrient balance. • Bystolic (nebivolol) tablets is a type of doctor prescribed medicine. • Lowers stress level to lower risk of cardiac arrest.
