MAINE • Maine was founded on March 15,1820.It’s founders were, John Winthrop, Thomas Dudley, and other non-separatist Puritans. • The state of has hundreds of mountain ranges, glacial lakes, rivers, and streams. • Maine’s climate at summer nights are usually comfortably cool. Maine has about 192 sunny days per year. Winters are generally cold and long. Rainfall in Maine can get up to 44 inches. • The Puritans lived in Maine. • Only a small part of Maine has good soil for crops. Other resources include minerals and waterpower. • A fun fact about Maine is it’s the only state that shares it’s border with only one other state.

  3. New Hampshire • New Hampshire’s effected by hurricanes and tropical storms. Average daytime highs are in the mid 70’s to low 80’s. • New Hampshire’s natural resources are timber and lakes for fishing. • In 1629 the state of New Hampshire was founded by Captain John Mason and Sir Ferdinand. Gorges.(Who also founded Maine.) • New Hampshire’s state house is the oldest state capitol.

Massachusetts • The Puritans founded the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1630. • Massachusetts has ocean views and 67% of Massachusetts is covered by forests. • Massachusetts climate has cold winters, and warm summers. • The Massachusetts institute of technology invented the first computer in Cambridge.

  5. Rhode Island • Roger Williams founded Rhode Island in 1636. • Some natural resources of Rhode Island are fish and the Narragansett Bay. • Rhode Island’s average temp. is 50°F. It has cold winters and short summers. • Rhode Island shares a state water border with New York.

  6. CONNECTICUT • Thomas Hooker founded Connecticut in 1636. • Connecticut has mild winters and warm summers. The state receives 150cm of snow each year. • Most of Connecticut’s land is covered with forests. The soil of the state’s river valleys are good for farming. • Connecticut is home to the oldest U.S newspaper.

  7. IF WE LIVED THEN… • I would live in Massachusetts because of all the water that I could swim in. • Jordan • I would live in Connecticut because of it’s warm summers and it would probably snow. • Karissa
