Reuse Options • Habitat for Humanity Restore. • Award winning NEVCO Max program. • KNCO Swap Shop. • KVMR Flea Market. • NCCA fill dirt soil swap.
Rate Incentive • C & D = $59.50 per ton. • Solid Waste = $70.00 per ton. • Reducing C&D Rate Works! • Increased C&D recycling rate from 4% to 6% in one month. • Established March 15, 2007.
Construction and Demolition Diversion is Huge! 3,500 tons in less than one year of operation!
Concrete Recycling • Establishing a concrete recycling area at MRTS. • Material will be recycled onsite into aggregate base material. • Estimate recycling 3,000- 5,000 tons of concrete annually.
What’s Next? • Continue outreach to increase the C & D diversion rate. • Open concrete recycling area. • Look for higher and better uses for materials. • Work on deconstruction versus demolition. • Utilize tools like RMDZ for business development for higher use of materials locally.
