Dos and don’ts • DO: Plan together to discuss classroom expectations and find connections between curricula no matter how much of a stretch it may seem • DO: Observe, assist, and teach equal amounts of time whether it is by alternating or working simultaneously • DO: Reflect and evaluate to continuously improve • DO: Trust each other • DON’T: View your colleague as an assistant • DON’T: Be inconsistent with co-teaching and integration
Steps for Planning Integrated Assignments/Curriculum • Get familiar with each other’s standard course of study • Decide which content area will be the “backbone” or “lense” • Find a common theme between content areas for a specific unit • Determine objectives/goals for each subject area • Brainstorm student understandings • Brainstorm possible assignments to integrate content areas • Plan rubrics and lessons together

Mini-project expectations • With a partner in your team, you will create a two week unit plan combining your content areas. You will use the steps from slide 4 (starting with step 2) to create the framework for a unit.
