HW Obsolescence Issues (SIG06) Candidate POC: J. Neuman/R. Sullivan
HW Obsolescence Issues(SIG06) Overview • Summary Description • Replace/update software for TTWCS hardware components that are no longer available from the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or after-market sources • Fleet Benefit • Changes are required in order to deploy and maintain an operational TTWCS • Fleet Importance: High • CR Summary • Adaptive: 1 • Perfective: 0 • Corrective: 0 • TOTAL: 1
HW Obsolescence Issues(SIG06) Analysis • Technical Description • SW changes need to be made to accommodate replacement components (continuation of v5 SIG01 candidate) • Includes new driver installation, configuration file changes, and Diagnostics- BIT/FIT changes • Current example is the NT board (GMS Mustang board) which is no longer in production • Effort: Low • Size: Low • Complexity: Low • External Dependencies: HIPT ECPs • Risk: Low • Addresses 1 CRs Eliminates 0 TTBs/TIP entries
HW Obsolescence Issues(SIG06) Recommendation • Recommendation Implement in v6 Defer for future consideration • Rationale • Hardware rapidly becomes obsolete • This is an ongoing task that will continue through the lifetime of TTWCS. • Issues • Dependent on the HIPT for the selection of the replacement hardware and for supplying the software products (I.e, interface drivers) required to use the hardware • This candidate is a “place-holder” for scoping of yet to be identified components.
SIG06 – Design Concept • Integrate the CD writer software into the OE • Determine replacement for Mustang board (NT processor)
