Inviting Thinking 3 Key Concepts or Ideas: • Tone of voice signals that the mentee’s opinion is welcome. • Exploratory language brings the focus from “everything” to “subsets” - therefore being more realistic and less daunting • Asking probing questions increases a mentee’s confidence and thinking skills
Inviting Thinking 2 Strategies or Skills: Use “might” instead of “could” - word choice matters. Intonation matters. Approachable voice matters. Plural forms help communicate that there are multiple solutions to every challenge
