Technology and the Classroom • “Integration is when classroom teachers use technology to introduce, reinforce, extend, enrich, assess, and remediate student mastery of curricular targets.” (Hamilton, 2007) • When used properly, technology in the classroom enhances the learning of students especially this generation of digital natives.

  3. Student Achievement improves with Technology when it: • directly supports curriculum being assessed. • provides opportunities for student collaboration • adjusts to student ability and provides feedback to student and teacher. • is integrated into instructional day. • gives students opportunities to extend curriculum content. • is supported by teachers, administrators and school community.*

  4. In future classrooms, each student will have a personal computer or pda with wireless capability even in third or fourth grade. Assignments will be uploaded to a server for immediate feedback. Students may even do more online or distance learning at a young age. That would be sad. There is nothing like the feel of a good book. Future Classrooms

  8. Missing technology We are still missing - • Classroom projectors • Document readers • Smart Boards • Technology Bond February 2010 will correct this situation and keep us on five year computer rotation schedule.

  9. My Future Technology Growth • Complete NP endorsement by August 2010 • Build skills that will enable increased education of students and staff • Complete MAET by December 2011 • Continue growing network connections through MAME and MACUL

  10. 21st Century Technologies • Continue to learn how to use rss feeds, twitter, blogs, wikis, etc. • Explore ways to make them safely accessible to students at school • Continue to offer professional development opportunities to teachers to help them grown in technology skills
