Personal Technology Plan Barbara Benford CEP 812 November 2009*
Technology and the Classroom • “Integration is when classroom teachers use technology to introduce, reinforce, extend, enrich, assess, and remediate student mastery of curricular targets.” (Hamilton, 2007) • When used properly, technology in the classroom enhances the learning of students especially this generation of digital natives.
Student Achievement improves with Technology when it: • directly supports curriculum being assessed. • provides opportunities for student collaboration • adjusts to student ability and provides feedback to student and teacher. • is integrated into instructional day. • gives students opportunities to extend curriculum content. • is supported by teachers, administrators and school community.*
In future classrooms, each student will have a personal computer or pda with wireless capability even in third or fourth grade. Assignments will be uploaded to a server for immediate feedback. Students may even do more online or distance learning at a young age. That would be sad. There is nothing like the feel of a good book. Future Classrooms
