1. SIS Program Concentration Areas: Service MUST be fall under one of the Four Service Concentration Areas. Strengthening Community-Based Organizations Capacity Education/Improving College Access and Success Mobilizing Volunteers Engaging Veterans You must check at least one and all that apply.
2. Who are the Beneficiaries of your Service? Beneficiaries of your service are: Members or aspects of the community that are directly benefiting from the service activities the SIS AmeriCorps member provides. You must check at least one and all that apply.
3. What unmet community need does your service address? Now that you’ve told us who your service is benefitting Tell us how your service will improve your community. Check at least one and all that apply.
4. What are your specific duties and responsibilities at your service site? Now that we know who you are serving, and the unmet need it will address, tell us what your service activities are. Example 1: I’m working with Habitat for Humanity I’m building homes for low-income individuals; creating flyers to recruit volunteers; conducting materials drives; recruiting volunteers; developing partnerships with other community agencies; creating PowerPoint training sessions about Habitat for Humanity; etc.
5. Describe two ways in which your service will positively impact your local community. Example 1. I’m serving as a counselor The mental health of over 30 low-income community members, who otherwise would not receive mental health counseling, will improve The capacity of the mental health clinic to serve low-income community members will be strengthened Example 2. I’m serving at a Title 1 School 25 at-risk students will have more confidence in their English skills and will be improved writers Students be better prepared to apply and attend college in the future
6. What value-added service will you bring as an SIS AmeriCorps member? Value-added service is the additional benefit a community receives from having an SIS AmeriCorps Member. Check at least one and all that apply
Member Development Plan Provide member development / training goals you plan to pursue during your term of service. Member Development must: Be related to the direct service or future service/professional goals Help members develop their ability to better help their community now and/or in the future Can include any trainings, readings, reflections, an elective class, symposiums, workshops, In-service, presentations, etc. that will help you in better serving your community
