Akhilesh Srivastava's Role in Bridging Technological Gaps in NHAI Roadways, which have been contributing to the socio-economic progress of the world, have been experiencing the technology infusion over the years. Especially the national highway network in India, which is the second largest in the world, in the past decade witnessed a lot of changes powered by different Informational technologies and IT-enabled services. In the recent past, the national highways Authority of India, which has been tasked to administer the assigned portion of national highway network, has introduced a slew of measures and initiatives. Mr.Akhilesh Srivastava, who is CGM of IT and Highway operations division in the National Highways Authority of India, has been one of the key personalities involved in many of the tech-reforms undertaken by the NHAI. Mr.Akhilesh Srivastava, who is one of the few tech-savvy bureaucrats working for the government of India, has received many accolades for his successive accomplishments. Some of the projects, for which he worked for, have received international attention. He firmly believes in the potential of Information Technology that it has solutions to many of the problems facing by human kind. With the same notion, he has successfully initiated and implemented many tech-based initiatives and processes in the development and operations of national highways of India. Let’s look into some of the well-known projects in which Mr.Akhilesh Srivastava played an immense role. FASTag The commuters and traders, who have been using national highways for years, expressed their happiness on the FASTag Toll collection system. This system, which was introduced to control congestion at Toll plazas, has been enabling a seamless travel to commuters. All that commuters have to do is to purchase a FASTag from the authorised partners and link their tags to personal bank accounts or wallets. Many Fin-tech companies and banks came forward and expressed their interest in partnering with the NHAI. FASTag Toll collection system, which is also referred as Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) system, works with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. When a vehicle with a FASTag goes through a tech-enabled Toll plaza, then the sensors would detect the vehicle and enable the system process the Toll payment without any human intervention. Commuters would be receiving a transaction statement as an acknowledgment of confirmation. With this system in place, users would not experience any delays at Toll plazas thus reducing travel time and cost. Mr.Akhilesh Srivastava, has been executing this project at a faster pace, for which he has been praised by authorities. Advanced Traffic Incident Management System At times, national highways were in news in for bad reasons like accidents and fatalities. In order to improve the conditions and emergency-handling systems, the NHAI’s operation division, which is chaired by Mr.Akhilesh Srivastava, has introduced Advanced Traffic Incident Management System in the highways operations. This system, though introduced very lately, would help commuters and NHAI in a big way with responsive ground-level teams, whose response could be tracked using GPS technology. Mr.Akhilesh Srivastava, who is one of the advocates of this system, has been involved in expanding this system across the national highway network. These are just two of Mr.Akhilesh Srivastava’s initiatives and he have been working on a lot of other projects, which are still in a pilot phase. #NHAI #FASTag #NationalHighways #AkhileshSrivastava #RFID
