  2. GENERAL INFORMATION Tver region is the ancient Russian land and the largest in Central Russia. Situated between St. Petersburg and Moscow. More than 11 000 monuments of history and culturehave the status of national heritage. On the territory of Tverregion there are: 387 Orthodox churches 20 Orthodox monasteries • More than half of the region's territory is covered with natural resources: • - almost 800 rivers and more than 1700 lakes • - the source of the great Russian river Volga • the crystal-clear lake Seliger • reserved forest The Ministry of Tourism of Tver region invites you tovisit the hospitable Tverland!

  4. Tver Imperial Palace • The Imperial Palace is the main sight of Tver. It was built in the second half of 18th century and was intended for rest of members of the imperial family on the way from St. Petersburg to Moscow. • The Palace served as the center of social life, where high society gathered, and where many prominent people from Moscow and St. Petersburg came.Its halls now house a picture gallery exhibiting masterpieces by Ivan Aivazovsky, Isaak Levitan, Valentin Serov and many other famous artists

  5. Torzhok, Tverregion • People come here for inspiration. Here worked «Russian Leonardo DaVinci» Nikolay Lvov. The classic of Russian literature Alexander Pushkin dedicated his comic lines to the local hotel. • The thousand-year-old town Torzhok is home to gold embroidery, a unique folk craft with over eight century of history. One of the brightest hallmark cards of Torzhok is Pozharskaya cutlet.

  6. NilovMonastery on Stolobny Island, Tver region • The Nilov Monastery is one of the most visited monasteries in Russia. It is located on Stolobny Island on Lake Seliger, one of the largest lakes in Europe. Another big attraction of this locality is the source of the great Russian river Volga.
