Look at what they were up against:Judges 21:25 In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.
Judges 6:1-4 reveals …1. Hid in caves2. Midianites took all their food, tools, and livestock.3. A time of apostasy
A. The basic definition of the word “shalom” is a harmony, completeness, wholeness.
D. In its Biblical content then, peace is the state of deep, abiding rightness that results from a harmonious relationship with God.
A. Jehovah has a desire to give us His peace. It was the high priestly benediction. (Numbers 6: 23-26)
C. All believers enter a state if peace with God (Romans 5:1)
2 Corinthians 12:9 holds the key to having Peace OF God with some key words … “Grace” = khar-ece (divine influence upon the heart reflective in life; gratitude)Root word = khar-ee = cheer, calm, happy
“Sufficient” = ar-keh-o (raising a barrier)Root word = ah-ee-ro (weigh anchor)
“Strength” = doo-nam-is (miraculous power)Root word = doo-nam-ahee (to make possible)
“Perfect” = tel-i-oo (complete – growth in mental or moral character)
“Weakness’ = as-then-i-ah (moral frailty)Root word = as-then-ace (strengthless or impotent)
“Power” = doo-nam-is (miraculous power) Same as “strength” above
Read 2 Cor. 12:9 again … My divine influence is weighing an anchor in your life because of my miraculous power that gives you moral character and rest as you admit your moral frailty, and boast in my miraculous ability to give you rest as you abide, or tabernacle with me in your mind and spirit. C. The causes for absence of the peace of God include confusion, pride, lack of love of God’s Word, carnality, and an unthankful spirit.
There is no true peace unless by ChristPsalm 34:18 / Psalm 51:17 / Ps. 85:9
