How does one “listen / hear” God? Very often we only “hear” what we want to hear. If we have something against God, it will be hard to hear Him. We need to develop the attitudes of Samuel – 1 Samuel 3:9.10 How can we do that?. How humble and respectful are we before God?

How does one “listen / hear” God? • Very often we only “hear” what we want to hear. • If we have something against God, it will be hard to hear Him.
We need to develop the attitudes of Samuel – 1 Samuel 3:9.10 • How can we do that?
How humble and respectful are we before God? • Do we have a reverent disposition toward God? • Ecc.12:13 –”Fear God, keep His commandments.”
Luke 6:46 – “Do what I tell you…” • We need to learn from our Macedonian brothers – they gave themselves first – 2 Cor. 8:5 • We need to give Jesus the respect due to Him.
That will than produce submissiveness. • Sometimes we serve God as His advisors.
How do we respond to God’s truth? • Are we teachable, receptive, open?
Pharaoh is an example of an unresponsive heart – Ex.5:2; 10:3 • Cornelius is an example of a responsive heart – Acts 10:33
When God speaks, how does my heart respond? • Is my mind attuned to God’s mind? • Do we look forward to study the Bible?
Gal. 4:16 – How do we respond to God’s truth? • Luke 8:18 – Be careful of how you hear.
Are we ready to do what God calls me to do? • How many times does the Lord have to ask us to do His will?
a. Moses was reluctant -Ex.4:13,14 • b. Isaiah was ready – Isa.6:8 • We must learn to recognize the voice of Jesus- John 7:17
We need to concentrate on what we have to do rather that what we want to do? • Psalm 119:60 – Have the willingness to do with out delay. • Paul – Acts 9:6 - “Be told what to do.”
