Learning Details: • Reading: We are using non-fiction stories to discuss text features such as captions, labels, titles, etc. If you or your child is reading a magazine or newspaper, you can point these features out! • Writing: The students are asked in first grade to use different sources to learn about a particular subject..in this case, winter animals. They will use the internet, books, magazines, articles, and other resources to do their research and will then write, edit, and publish their work. • Math: Here is a telling time poem that we have learned that you may find helpful: “The short hand has all the power, it’s the one that tells the hour.” • Science: We will extend our winter animal learning by talking about habitats and food chains. We will also be talking about adaptations, using hands-on experiences!
