  1. Session 1: after pages 1-16- Please write complete sentences in your composition notebooks. Do Max and his brother seem realistic to you? Why or why not? Based on his actions so far, what conclusions can you draw about Max? How would you describe Aunt Fran? What kind of person would you say she is? What causes Adam to go ant-crazy? What happens when Adam has to wait for the ants to arrive? Why does Max tell Adam that people eat chocolate covered ants? Why does Adam refuse to believe Max? In the next part of the book, Adam’s ants arrive. Predict how this arrival is going to affect the characters. Write in your prediction in your composition notebook.

Session 2: after pages 17-41- Please write complete sentences with your buddy. • What do you think of Max at this point of the story? • Why does Max bet Adam that people eat ants? • How does Adam react when his ants arrive? How does Max react? • What do we learn from Max’s conversation with his friend Larry on pages 34-36? • How do you think Max feels when he realizes that he can’t find a can of chocolate-covered ants and he doesn’t have enough money to cover his bet? • 6. In the next part of the book, Max comes up with another idea when he can’t find a can of chocolate-covered ants. Predict what Max plans to do.
