HYPOGLYCEMIC EFFECT OF OREGANO (Origanumvulgare) Diane Mary Grace T. Baguio Dafny Claire E. Quilo
The Study • Hypoglycemic effect of the plant, Origanumvulgarethrough infusing different concentrations from its extracts.
Statement of the Problem • What is the difference between the baseline blood sugar and the blood sugar of the test subject after ssome time approval (after 1 hour and after 2 hours) utilizing the following: a. 100% Pure Oregano Extract b. 75% Oregano Extract solution c. 50% Oregano Extract solution d. 25% Oregano Extract solution e. insulin f. tap water only
Statement of the Problem • Is there a significant difference on the hypoglycemic effect of insulin to each of the different extract solution on: a. The first hour of introduction b. The second hour of introduction • Is there a significant difference on the hypoglycemic effect of tap water to each of the different extract solution on: a. The first hour of introduction b. The second hour of introduction
Statement of the Problem • Is there a significant difference on the hypoglycemic effect of the different oregano extract concentrations on the test subject: a. The first hour of introduction b. The second hour of introduction • Which of the extract solutions is most/least effective in terms of their hypoglycemic effect towards the subject: a. After one hour upon administration of extract b. After two hours upon administration of extract
Scope and Delimitation • The research will cover only the hypoglycemic effect of the Origanumvulgare. • The said plant will be taken from the vicinity of Iligan City. • The researchers shall only use extracts obtained from the leaves of Origanumvulgare. Likewise, this study is limited only to 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% concentrations of the extract which are tested to white mice.
Scope and Delimitation • The negative control of this study would be the tap water while the positive control that will be used is the insulin. • Introduction of the test samples will be done using a syringe.

Conclusion • Results show that oregano extract solutions have hypoglycemic effect despite the extract concentration. It tells that 25% extract solution is most effective and 75% extract solution is least effective for both time intervals.
Recommendations The researchers would like to recommend further studies which include the following: a) study other plants that could be possible in lowering blood sugar levels b) initiate future researches about the medicinal purposes and the chemical profile of oregano or Origanumvulgare c) look into the bioactive compounds of oregano that could have caused the hypoglycaemic effect.
