IEEE802.15 TeraHertz Interest Group is putting out a call for contributions in the area of TeraHertz communications. Of particular interest are contributions discussing any of the following (or similar) topics: • What communications applications, including needed infrastructure, might use THz? • What technology would address THz? • how are transmitters, receivers, and antennas realized? • What is the coverage range and possible bit rates? • What is the regulatory status? • When is this going to happen in the market? • Will there be a standards effort and when? • What is the current research status? • Who is doing the research? Topics of Interest Continued … • Coexistence with imaging and other existing THz technologies. • To include the identification of existing and emerging non-communication THz applications and other interfering sources. • How is receiver sensitivity measured and what is a realistic value? • What is a realistic transmitter power value now and what is the prediction 5 to 10 years from now due to technology evolution? • Are there interoperability and standards with other high bandwidth interfaces? (i.e. Fiber optics). • What are the passive scientific bands and where are they. • What are applicable modulation techniques? • What is the status of work on a THz channel model? Rick Roberts, Intel
