Technology and The Church Running Time: 10-15mins Genre: Documentary Target Audience: Churches Narration: I plan on narrating they documentary myself, while weaving voices of participants from interviews to craft the narrative. Narrate the beginning, develop characters using the interviews and letting them tell the story in the middle, and then myself summarizing at the end. Music: I will use praise music in the background of my documentary. The music is legal thanks to the Westminster College Chapel Office CCL License, since this documentary is not for profit. Problems: My biggest potential problem is that I will be filming on location in Virginia for a weekend. While I will have all my equipment with me, this still may become an issue. The working title of this project is Technology and the Church. The program explores how some churches now use multi-media and technological developments in communicating with congregations. How has technology and media shaped churches in the age of YouTube and Facebook. I chose this because I have personally witnessed some churches evolve and embrace computers, sound and projection systems as well as Facebook. My knowledge of thee technologies has already made me an expert in the field and I have helped several churches use these technologies effectively. Abstract Jeffrey Houser BC 601- Broadcast Communications Capstone 2011- Westminster College New Wilmington, Pennsylvania 16172 I plan to interview College Chaplin Reverend James Mohr to see how he has changed his services to appeal to the college audience through the use of technology. Current students attending Westminster to see what their respective churches have done with technology. At Greenwich Presbyterian Church I will interview Youth Director Derrick Trump to see what he has done to embrace technology to reach the church’s youth. I will also Interview several of the staff. Greenwich has plans for building a new primary building on their grounds, so I will see what technological innovations they plan to use with this new structure Steve Ghraham, a student of the University of Pittsburgh and Butler County Community College, Steve founded Graham Audio in 1984. His skills were much in demand, and soon he was producing band demos, on-hold messages, radio and television commercials, jingles, books on tape, and much more. But his services weren't limited to in-studio work: he also began doing sound system design and installation. (His ability to work within the smallest budget and still achieve big budget sound is legendary.) He also has extensive experience as a live sound engineer. I served as AV Director for the Community Presbyterian Church of Ben Avon during my senior year of high school before coming to Westminster. Here I have worked as Tech Supervisor for Student Affairs, responsible for the Berlin Lounge. I also have ran sound for college Vespers Sunday nights. Both for three years. The Johnstown Film Festival is organized by the Johnstown Area Heritage Association, a non-profit that preserves the region's nationally significant stories through museums, special events, cultural & educational programming, and historical collections.
