  3. INTRODUCTION: Technology is the art of applying scientific knowledge to solve practical problems. This includes designing and building the necessary equipment.

  4. SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY: Science and techology are closely connected. Science gives us the knowledge and techology uses this information to design machines.

  5. THE WHEEL: • The wheel is the most important invention in transport history. People used wheels in many ways, with many forms of enrgy.

  6. THE STEAM ENGINE: The steam engine gave us a new way to power machines and vehicles. For example the train in the picture that is propelled with vapour.

  7. THE JET TURBINE: The jet turbine is the invention that let people build faster and safer aeroplanes and the jet turbine allows the aircraft to take off.

  8. NEW TECHNOLOGIES: New technologies are very important at homes and schools for parents, teachers and students, because they allow them to develop in many different ways.
