PICs - Definition CONSOLIDATION: replacement of an ageing equipment by a new equipment with the same specs in order to ensure reliable operation example: PSB multipole power converters UPGRADE: Installation of new equipment which would not be needed otherwise Example: H- injection, PS injection for 2 GeV PERFORMANCE IMPROVING CONSOLIDATION: replacement of an ageing equipment by a new equipment which has at the same time improved performance example: change an ageing PSB power supply by a new one which is more reliable and which can also go up to 2 GeV KH
