  2. Types of Motion • Rectilinear motion – in a straight line. Ex: Skateboard • Alternating motion – back and forth in a straight line. Ex: trumpet piston • Circular motion – in a curve or circle. Ex: Ferris wheel • Oscillatory – back and forth around a central point. Ex: swing

  3. Change in Motion • In order to change the motion of an object, a force must be applied. • There are several forces that can change motion: gravitational, push, pull, friction, etc. • Forces can set an object in motion, change the speed or direction of an object, or deform an object.
