  1. duPont Manual HS “Crimson Sound” Marching and Pep BandWELCOME STUDENTS AND PARENTS!

  2. Be a part of something great! Meet new friends before school starts and become part of a wonderful band family organization. Receive positive guidance from our staff and upperclassmen leadership. Learn to achieve greatness through self-discipline, perseverance, team work and character building. Enjoy performing and bringing a spirited energy to all home football games with over 50 other talented musicians and color guard members. Enjoy competing at band contests with many other fantastic bands from around the state and region. Marching Band counts as an after school fall semester course. You will receive a half credit for participating. It will not interfere with any of your regular school hours scheduling.

  3. January 2017… WALT DISNEY WORLD & UNIVERSAL STUDIOS January 12-16, 2017. Leave Thursday after school and return Monday early afternoon. The band marches in the Disney Magic Kingdom parade every two years. The last time we planned this trip the cost was $425 (included park hopper to all 4 Disney Parks, breakfast on the way down and back, a box dinner the night we left school, travel in a nice Miller motor coach and 2 nights stay at a 2nd tier Disney Resort/Caribbean Beach Resort). We do all of the trip planning “in house” to keep the trip costs down. We will usually hold 3-4 rehearsals in December and in January in preparation for the parade performance.

  4. Tentative Fall Performance Schedule 5-6 home games in late August, September, October and possibly the first week of November (home playoff game). Occasional Pep Assembly (during the day) or Community event (in the evening). 5-6 Saturday Marching Band Competitions (All Day) September 17 September 24 October 1 (Off) October 8 October 15 October 22 October 29

  5. Marching Band Fees $300 Membership Fee (helps cover transportation costs, uniform cleaning/maintenance, instrument maintenance, color guard supplies, show design, food for the students) $150 General Fundraiser Obligation (if you don’t want to fundraise, write a check as a donation). Additional fundraising goes to the General Fund to help keep Membership and Disney Trip fees low. Many HS bands, dance teams, cheerleading teams in the state of Kentucky charge between $500-1000 in membership fees.

  6. Basketball Pep Band (Winter Activity) The "Crimson Sound Pep Band" start rehearsals in mid-November on Tuesday’s from 2:45-4:15 once a week.  The Pep Band is a high energy ensemble that performs a variety of arrangements from Motown, Classic Rock, Techno, Alternative, Hip-Hop to current hits and classics.  The "Crimson Sound" pep band takes pride in learning roughly 25 songs (many are often quite challenging arrangements) to keep the fan base and musicians pleased throughout the course of the game.  The pep band plays at every opportunity during the course of a game (pregame, during time outs, during quarters, at half time and at the conclusion of the game).  This helps create an exciting atmosphere for the fan base. After about 7-8 one day a week rehearsals, the band will start performing at select Boys & Girls Varsity home games in December, January and February.  After school rehearsals conclude and the pep band performs at roughly 10 games.  Many of these games are “Double Headers” (boys and girls on the same night) so there are less evenings that students have to be at school.  For example, the pep band may play at 10 games but this may only take up 6 evenings.  Games are usually on Tuesday and Friday nights.  The busiest time of the year is in March when the boys and girls varsity teams head to District, Regional and State Championship tournaments.  This is also when the pep band has the most fun and is exposed to other schools fan bases.  The "Crimson Sound" Pep Band often receives compliments not only from duPont Manual fans, but also from the opposition's fans.
