  2. What is mClass Reading 3D? • Reading 3D is an assessment tool used to inform instruction for students in K-3rd grade. • The assessment tool is comprised of two components: DIBELS & TRC.

  3. DIBELS assesses early literacy skills. TRC assesses text reading comprehension. DIBELS & TRC

  4. Elements of Reading 3D • Understanding the make-up & basic features of print • Hearing & using sounds in spoken words • Knowing sounds of letters and sounding out written words • Reading fluency • Reading comprehension Wireless Generation

  5. Assessment Timeframes • Students will formally be assessed at the beginning, middle and end of the school year. • Parents will receive a letter explaining the results of their child’s assessment called the Home Connect Letter.

  6. Assessment results will be used to determine your child’s reading strengths and weaknesses. Teachers will use this information to help each child. How will teachers use the assessment results?

  7. How is Reading 3D different? • Assessments are timed. • Students will be challenged with written comprehension questions after a certain reading level. • Parents will receive individualized reports at the beginning, middle, and end of the school year.

  8. Now What? • Each K-3 student will be assessed between September 9-27 • Parents will receive a “Home Connect Letter” after the first assessment period explaining your child’s results
