Flags ( which can be made from construction paper )
3. What we know Median – The middle number in a set of numbers
1st Quartile – The median to the left of the 2nd quartile
3rd Quartile – The median to the right of the 2nd quartile
Max – The largest number in a data set
Min – The lowest number in a data set
4. What to do - 1 Everyone should have an index card or a post it note
Write your shoe size down on the index card or post it note.
Stick the post it note up on the board
5. What to do - 2 Lets place the shoe sizes in order
Find the median
Find the lower quartile
Find the upper quartile
Find the max
Find the min
Use the flags to identify the 5 number summary
6. What to do - 3 Time to graph!!!
Remember, the quartiles make up the box
The max and min make up the whiskers
