Other Considerations Shift Work (inc. night shifts) Travel to Clinical Placements Working across the whole region to include Kings Lynn Strict Course Attendance (all absence to be made up prior to completion) Fixed vacation for the whole course. Parking for theory sessions (Park and Ride) Childcare Support Relevant Experience

Example of Timetable (Year 1) Teaching approaches include: Introduction to Module and Assessment Set Period of Core Lectures Seminars regarding Research Papers Specific Learning Triggers stimulating Enquiry (EBL) Skill Based Sessions Workshops Placement Preparation Reflection on Placement Experience Students must be available for lectures between 1000 – 1600 hours Vacation time is fixed for the 3 years

Clinical Placements • Placements take place across the region using: • Acute Hospitals • Health Centres • Birth Centres (Midwifery Led Care) • Community Hospitals • Community Midwives • Women’s Homes • All students are expected to be able to travel to placement areas but reimbursement of travel and accommodation costs may be available.

Clinical Placements (Example) Postgraduate Diploma Midwifery Module 1 2 x 6 week periods Module 2 2 x 4 week periods Module 3 1 x 6 week period 1 x 2 week period 1 x 8 week period • BSc (Hons) Midwifery • Year 1 • Term A: 6 weeks (over a 7 week period) • Term B: 6 weeks • Term C: 6 weeks • Year 2 • Term A: 7 weeks • Term B: 7 weeks • Term C: 10 weeks • Year 3 • Term A: 8 weeks • Term B: 9 weeks • Term C: 9 weeks

Assessment Methods • Practice • Learning Outcomes • Skills • Attitude • Theory • Portfolio • Essay • Oral Examination • Written Examination • Dissertation • Notes • Maximum of two attempts for theory and practice • 40% mark required for theory and practice (BSc Hons) • 50% mark required for theory and 40% for practice (Postgraduate)

Additional Information • If successful and offered a place you would need to: • Complete a satisfactory Criminal Records Bureau Check. • Complete a satisfactory Occupational Health Medical Check • Cover the cost of the first two Hepatitis B Vaccinations. • Cover the cost for your GP to complete the Occupational Health Questionnaire Doctor’s Statement. • Arrange accommodation (if required) directly with the UEA Accommodations Office – www.uea.ac.uk/accom

  16. Entry Requirements Course Entry Requirements can be located on our website: www.uea.ac.uk/nam Minimum requirements are 3 A-Levels at Grades BBC (Academic Subjects) accompanied by GCSE English, Mathematics and Science at Grade C or above.

  17. How to Apply All applications must be submitted via UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admission Service) online at: www.ucas.ac.uk The deadline for “on time” applications is 15th January 2010. Late applications will not be processed.
