Did you know… • The Problem: • 250,000 Veteransfrom the Iraq and Afghan wars are now back home and unable to find jobs • 25% of the nation's homeless are veterans • Unemployment rate for 9/11 Veterans: • In Indiana: 23.6% (For those who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan) • In Ohio: 16% • New York: 15.2 % • Disabled veterans, including wounded, ill and injured service members face unique barriers in the workplace Integrity - Service - Innovation

Federal Non-Competitive Hiring Authorities • “Schedule A” • The direct hiring authority that can be used to hire individuals with disabilities (not exclusive to Veterans). • 30% or More Disabled Vet • The direct hiring authority used to hire Disabled Veterans who were honorably separated/retired from active military service with a service-connected disability rating of 30 percent or more. • Both hiring authorities allow Disabled Veterans to be hired: • without posting and publicizing the position; and • without going through the certificate process Integrity - Service - Innovation
